The BIG Summer Read is a summer reading challenge, encouraging kids and teens to keep reading all summer long. If you are aged between 0 and 18 years and love reading, this summer reading program is for you!
Join.
Register now for the BIG Summer Read at readbooks.au and make sure you select Goulburn Valley Regional Library Corporation as your local library. If you prefer, pick up a reading journal at any GV Library, or download one below.
*please note that participants must register online to be eligible for the Statewide Major Prize Draw.
Borrow.
Borrow books from your library or use our digital collection (including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, graphic novels or manga).
Read.
Read a minimum of 10 books and log them on the readbooks.au website or return your completed reading journal to any GV Library.
The more you read the more entries you have in the GV Libraries prize draw.
Win!
Participants must register online to be eligible for the Statewide Major Prize Draw. Both online and paper entries will be eligible for the GV Libraries prize draw.
Reading Reward.
Read 10 books and pick up a reward and a certificate from any GV Library.
BIG Summer Read Character Hunt.
Keep an eye out for the BIG Summer Read characters from December 1st until January 31st. Grab an answer sheet in your library, find all the characters and fill in their names. Once you have found all 8 you can pick a prize from the lucky dip bag.
Statewide prize winner announced 12th February 2025
The lucky winners will receive some amazing book packs, curated to suit their age group.
- Ages 0-4 – Board books
- Ages 5-8 – Picture books
- Ages 8-12 – Junior fiction/graphic novels
- Ages 12-18 – YA fiction/graphic novels
Winners will be notified via email.
GV Libraries Prize Draw.
Whether you use a paper reading journal or log your books using the readbooks.au website, finish your reading by Friday 31st January 2025 to be in with a chance to WIN!
Terms & Conditions
To participate in the BIG Summer Read you must be between 0 and 18 years, be a member of Goulburn Valley Libraries, and be able to collect your prize from a Goulburn Valley Library.
Prizes will not be awarded to anyone who does not meet the eligibility criteria.
